re-reading the first three Horus Heresy books
Just so as I finally start on the rest I’m not completely lost.
I had forgotten that Sigismund (Imperial Fists captain, soon to be first High Marshal of the BT) shows up in the first novel. Then after Loken does his optomistic “The crusade will end one day” thing, Sigismund basically lays out exactly what the future of the Imperium is at the point of the 41st millenium, and ends with “In the far future, there will be only war”.
I fucking love this chapter.
